A Foggy Morning Maternity Session in Ellijay
Brooke and Tate arrived to their morning mountain session with the most precious little collection of blue details. A tiny blue sweater. Soft blue booties. A bundle of blue flowers tucked inside a vintage stroller that made my heart melt the moment I saw it. She is still early in her pregnancy so this was not quite a maternity session in the traditional sense and not quite a typical gender reveal either, yet still a tender celebration of the sweet boy they are expecting. Sometimes the in between moments are the ones that feel the most real.
The beautiful view we knew was just beyond, was filled with thick fog so waited together for it to lift. There was something lovely about that slow start. No rush. No pressure. Just the three of us standing in the cool air, talking about their excitement for this new season of life. Bit by bit the fog began to drift away and the mountains slowly appeared and the sunlight came beaming in. The world opened right in front of us, as if revealing the perfect backdrop at the perfect moment.
Once the view returned, Brooke and Tate slipped so easily into these soft and romantic moments with each other. The gentle touch of a hand. The shared smile. The quiet joy that only expectant parents know. The little blue pieces became symbols of excitement and anticipation as we talked about how soon enough those tiny pieces will be worn by their baby boy. It is hard to wrap your mind around the fact that something so small will soon hold a brand new life.
Session days like this remind me why I love being a photographer in north Georgia. The mountains always bring something special and sometimes the unexpected becomes the most beautiful part of the day. Brooke and Tate trusted the process, embraced the morning and allowed the natural magic to unfold around them.
